12/15/2023 0 Comments 2005 mercedes c230 kompressor cd stuckDiagnosis reveals basically the entire E-brake needing to be replaced (including roter, shoe, and backing plate.) Expensive fix Left rear wheel started making very loud clicking sounds while rotating/driving. Needed to be re-bent/molded back into place. Produced a loud noticeable ringing sound after operating temp was reached. Exhaust/Tail Pipe heat shield on left/driver side failed. ![]() Not sure, and Mercedes can't see a problem. Weird issue, but ESP seems to still be working. Subsequent restart of engine clears the code. Has done this 3 times in the last year and a quarter. Computer states that ESP Unit Malfunctioned. Needed to be re-sealed, but still have problem (though rarely now). Water seal at top edge of windshield and roof was somehow letting water into the cabin when it rained sometimes (water dripped in). I think a software update fixed this, but can't remember. Computer would tell me a light-bulb was burned-out, when indeed, it wasn't. Glove box based 6 disc CD changer completely failed. Moonroof control unit needed to be completely replaced Moonroof opened while driving, completely by itself, and would not close. Software updated needed to be applied for my fuel gauge to show the correct fuel amount (not really an issue hard-core issue) For the 05 C230, I expected electrical and computer issues, but not really the mechanical. I don't have the paperwork in front of me, so I'll just give general descriptions. With that said, I've had issues, to say the least. ![]() I'm not entirely sure of the ride height of the 05 C55 AMG, but my C230 feels/looks like its the same, which is good. The heavy, stiffer drive suites my driving feel, and it feels connected to the road. So, I've had my 05 C230 for about 5 years, and overall, despite the issues I'll go into, I still love this saloon.
